(don't forget it.)... joel. well, it's actually pretty amazing. i did my project on the wheat that canada exports to south korea. GEOGRAPHY project due tuesday!!!! (don't forget it.)... joel. did you know that canada is the worlds second largest exporter of wheat? canada averages about 2o million tonnes of wheat every year! That's 21% of the worlds wheat! GEOGRAPHY project due tuesday!!!! (don't forget it.)... joel. out of all the wheat exported by canada, south korea purchases about 5% of it every year. they are the fifth largest importer of canadian wheat. behind china, japan, iran, and u.s.a. GEOGRAPHY project due tuesday!!!! (don't forget it.)... joel. why is it so beneficial for canada to export to south korea, though? it starts in saskatchewan. even though bc, alberta, manitoba, ontario, quebec, nova scotia, new brunswick and pei all have wheat too, saskatchewan has the most. wheat companies such as the canadian wheat board transport the wheat by truck to their nearest shipping airport. it is then shipped by plane... to south korea. since this shipment (if you go eastward) is shorter than other flights, there is cheaper costs for fuel. which is one benefit. (don't forget it.)... joel. also, since south korea is a very pastry loving society, they pay very well for wheat, for their bread and sometimes even medicines. they use wheat in certain medicines, but they call them "home remedies." which makes sense, since it's made out of wheat. (don't forget it.)... joel. in fact, in from may 2009 to may 2010, south korea paid 128.3 million dollars for wheat, which was very high compared to the sixth place importer of peru, who bought 99 million dollars worth.
