hello there... I've just been to a little gathering of various personages some of whom may or may not have been members of bitstrips for quite some time...
actually, may... for it was in light
discussion with some of them that
we all were astounded that so many
children on the site had commented
that Bitstrips was a "kid's" site
for those of us who remember
the golden age of bitstripping,
it just seems such an odd thing to say
Artistic Interpretation
in those early days, Bitstrips was a very
simple affair, hewed out of the jungle
that was the Internet in those days...
there were only three default characters,
the only furniture was one chair and there
were only seven props! we all used to
make pretty much everything out of bacon!
and when I say we, I mean mostly adults... oh,
sure, there were a couple of kids but they've
grown up by now so that hardly counts
now, the bitstrips development team, who we thought were a bunch of wise old men living on a mountain somewhere, turned out to be a pretty cool bunch of mildly adult fellows and they decided that they'd make a site specifically for children...
they called the site
Bitstrips for schools!
so now you know, we
adults were here first!
now if
you'll excuse
me, it's time
for my shower
and that is
strictly
for adults!

But you can't really JOIN Bitstrips for schools.. it's for your teacher to set up and make the class for you. I'd say this is a site for 13+

This is a great Bitstrips history lesson! I've only been here a little over 3 years now, so I wasn't aware of just HOW limited the tools were back in the beginning!

Being a vegetarian, I preferred to make everything out of moons. I challenge any of the recent youngsters to make anything out of moons props. Except the moon, that is....

Bravo...when I started here, there was already a mix of older and younger people....it was never an issue. I miss those days....I've seen alot of very talented young people grow up on bitstrips....I'd trade an awful lot of props for a return to those days....

At least if the kids are uncomfortable here they can go to BS for school. We have no other choice but to stay here. This is where we started , this is where we will stay.I hope the kids will understand why now.

Thank you. I was talking to one of the younger kids on the site today, and she said she was actually uncomfortable with adults being on the site. It's been interesting to see how the group dynamic here has changed since 2008.
