I was woken from my slumber by a river of red flooding my eyes.
i could hardly breathe. was I drowning in a pool of blood?
my head was hurting, throbbing.
i struggled to open my eyes.
when I managed to lift my heavy eyelids i noticed
that the sun was leaking through a hole in a blind.
everything seemed wrong.
was I dreaming?
barely able to prop myself up on one arm
i realised that this was not my room.
the sheets were rough and grey.
they had probably started off their life white.
i loved white sheets , crisp from the line.smelling of the sun.
not these. they smelt stale, dirty.
i was scared.
