Originally a test pilot in NASA's experimental flight project, Lara
was head hunted by James T. Picard to be his #1 in a new venture
in space travel. After three years of training she rose to the top
of her class and was sent head to the SS Defender for advance
training along with #2 Hans Svensson and Dr Chang.
Not long after fresh recruits started joining Lara and co and it
seemed like all systems go until the then Captain (James Picard)
was caught up in a nefarious scheme which would have seen the
extinction of The Artemas Foundation (The organization responsible
for the creation of The Defender). Where it not for the timely
intervention of private investigators Bennett & Eddie, the scheme
would have succeeded. Unfortunitly Picard was killed by a ex-backer
Max Murphy. Picards last orders as captain was to signal the launch
of the Defender and to make Lara, her new Captain.
Before that could happen the ship was boarded by forces working
for The Artemas Group. After a struggle for control of the ship
Lara and co won thanks once again to The Private Eye Guys. After
words where had, Bennett & Eddie returned to Earth and the SS
Defender set off on her maiden voyage. Since then Blake has remained
the ships Captain. Lara is also the adoptive mother of Kerry Ann
Picard (Grandaughter of the late James T. Picard).
