This is a game, right? See if you can spot the three places Pauly misspelled "Bitstrips" ? ;) Hehehe... sorry, Pauly. Normally I don't point out spelling mistakes. In this case, I couldn't resist.

This week has certainly been a defining one for me, in regards to this question. I think this is a place for creativity. Some achieve it visually, others with thier words. The hard work that has gone into the visual strips I have seen is amazing, given what we have to work with. We all wait for Mondays, to see what new things will be added. Then comes the excitement of seeing how these will be used. When I started out as an artist, I was told that cartoons are all about good storytelling. There are some great stories here. It's a good tool for those with talent, an easy one for ones who don't.

The creator of a work of art (the Bitstrip community) is not inherently the most privileged eye. The most accurate way to define something is how it is used. Bitstrips is used as a social networking tool, a blog, a daily soap, and a home for ideas. The kind of ideas you find here are reused, recycled riffs on riffs, some original inventions that wouldn?t have been expressed elsewhere, and self-referential loops. A medium, that by its accessibility, opens up a new vein of expression.

Bitstrips..freedom to those who can write but can't draw. Freedom to those who can write and draw and want to get an idea up quickly. A great learning tool about layout and design for the unititiated. A great time waster and a whole lot of fun. Social entropy. Nah! There will always be a place for the real deal. And like anything else, the Sh#^ will filter out. I'll have to think on this some more but this is my initial reaction!
